Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah called upon the Cooperatives to reach out to villages and work towards poverty alleviation during the Amruth years from 2022 to 2047.
He was speaking during the Sahakara Saptaha in Bengaluru on Friday. He stressed that the Cooperatives must be transparent and gain the faith of people. Mr.Shah said that a separate Cooperative ministry is created at the centre realising the potential that this sector has to drive Economy at the grassroot level. He informed the gathering that several decisions are taken to promote Cooperatives in the country. The Government is planning to bring NABARD and the Cooperatives under one software which can be operated in different languages. Similarly there is a plan to create a data bank of cooperatives. A University on Cooperatives and a new Policy on the sector by 2023 are on the anvil.
