  • Today is World Refugee Day.
  • World Refugee Day observed every year on 20th of June, to honour refugees around the globe and to spread awareness and sensitivity towards millions of people who have been displaced due to war, persecution, political turmoil or violence.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several projects worth 33000 crore rupees in Bengaluru.
  • He inaugurated the country’s third fully air conditioned railway terminal and laid the foundation stone for over 15000 crore rupees Bengaluru suburban railway project.
  • Five National Highways and seven railway projects were also launched by the Prime Minister.
  • A delegation of Congress leaders called on President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan to raise issues with the Agnipath scheme.
  • The delegation consisted of Mallikarjun Kharge, Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, P. Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal. In a memorandum submitted to the President, the party alleged that the scheme carries multiple risks and subverts the long standing traditions and ethos of the armed forces.
