The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), custodian of cricket laws, announced its new code of laws for 2022, making significant changes for the first time since 2017. The implementation of this will take place from October 1, 2022. The MCC has ratified as many as nine rule changes.
As per the one of the changed new norm, the new batter will be on strike even if the players cross when the catch is taken. Also, there’s a permanent ban on the use of saliva to shine the ball And reframed the law around the running out the non-striker while backing up.
An updated code of the Laws was approved by the MCC’s main committee this week.
