Public welfare schemes are manifestation of our dreams of providing all necessary amenities to poor : PM

PM Narendra Modi today said PM Awas Yojana, Har Ghar Jal are not just any government schemes but a manifestation of our dreams of providing all necessary amenities to our poor. 

The Prime Minister said this while addressing the Peace, Unity and Development Rally at Diphu in Karbi Anglong District, Assam to day.

He said cultural heritage of tribal society unites India and strengthens the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and the culture of tribal society, their language, food, food, art, handicrafts are the rich heritage of India.

In his address he said that there is no more rule of anarchy and hatred in Assam and Assam Chief Minister’s efforts ensured peace in the state.

During the last 8 years, the government removed AFSPA from many areas of the North East due to the implementation of permanent peace and better law and order, said the Prime Minister.

Talking about the Bodo accord he said it opened new doors for lasting peace in 2020 and in September last year, several organizations from Karbi Anglong joined the resolve for peace and development.

The Centre is committed for peace and development of the North Eastern states and it is to provide 1000 crore rupees under the Peace Accord which was signed between 6 militant groups of this district last year in September.

He said centre is working for the welfare of the Tribal people of Karbi Anglong and other areas of Assam.

In his speech Mr. Modi said when someone visits north east today and witnesses the rapid development, they will also feel proud.

The government has understood the problems of people of Assam from the perspective of the common man and as a member of your own family, he pointed out.

He said the work of building more than 2600 Amrit Sarovar has begun today. Such Sarovars have a rich tradition in the tribal society and with this, water reserves will be created in every village, and they will also become a source of income. With the celebrations of Azadi ka AmritMahotsav, we are beginning the project of building Amrit Sarovar in every district of India, they will be based on ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Prayas’, he said.

Double engine government in many states is developing the nation with the mantra of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas, he reiterated.

Remembering the brave commander of Ahom Kingdom Lachit Borphukan, the Prime Minister said, when we are celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence, we are also marking the 400th birth anniversary celebrations of Lachit Borphukan.

Mr.Modi also hailed the Assam-Meghalaya boundary agreement and said that the solution to border-related issues through agreements will encourage other states in the northeast. Recently, Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, was removed from 23 districts in the Assam. We have removed AFSPA from many areas of the North East as a result of better law and order, he said.

During the programme, Mr Modi laid the foundation stone of various projects worth more than 500 crore rupees in the education sector, including laying of foundation stone of Veterinary College at Diphu, Degree College at West Karbi Anglong and Agricultural College, Kolonga, West Karbi Anglong. These projects, will bring new opportunities for skilling and employment in the region.

Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of more than 2950 Amrit Sarovar projects in Assam being developed at a cumulative cost of around 1150 crore rupees.

Earlier when The Prime Minister reached Assam he was received by the state Governor Jagadish Mukhi. At Diphu, Mr. Modi was received by the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and was given a traditional welcome by the people.

After Diphu, the Prime Minister will fly to Dibrugarh where he will inaugurate the Dibrugarh Cancer Centre at the Assam Medical College and Hospital.

From Dibrugarh, the Prime Minister would virtually inaugurate seven cancer hospitals and lay the foundation for seven more cancer hospitals across Assam.

Tata Trusts Chairman Ratan Tata, central ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Rameshwar Teli, state Governor Jagadish Mukhi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma among others are also expected to be present at the event in Dibrugarh.

He will also address a public rally at Dibrugarh this afternoon.
