Today India won three medals in Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Starting with a silver medal in the Men’s High Jump T64 final when debutant Praveen Kumar cleared jump of 2.07 metres for a new Asian Record. In Shooting, Avani Lekhara won a bronze medal in the 50-metre three-position SH1 air rifle event. In Archery, Harvinder Singh won the bronze medal in the men’s individual recurve event. This is India’s first ever medal in archery at Paralympics. With this, Team India has so far won a total of 13 medals including two gold, six silver and five bronze.
Prachi Yadav, who became the first Indian to qualify for the Paralympics in Canoe Sprint has finished 8th in the finals of Women’s VL2 200-metre event.
In Swimming, Suyash Yadav and Niranjan Mukundan failed to qualify in respective heats of Men’s 50-metre butterfly S7 event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Praveen Kumar, Avani Lekhara and Harvinder Singh.
