Medals to “Veer” during Defence Investiture Ceremony

President Ram Nath Kovind confers one Kirti Chakra and 14 Shaurya Chakras during Defence Investiture Ceremony (Phase-2) at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi.

President Kovind presents Shaurya Chakra to Shri Shahbaz Ahmad, Special Police Officer, Jammu & Kashmir Police (Posthumous). He exhibited exemplary commitment fighting the terrorists and made supreme sacrifice for the nation. Also Shaurya Chakra to Shri Vikas Kumar, Constable (GD), 204 Cobra CRPF, Chhattisgarh (Posthumous). He displayed extraordinary gallantry and made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while fighting Maoists. President Kovind presents Shaurya Chakra to Shri Ajeet Singh, Head Constable (GD), 204 Cobra CRPF, Chhattisgarh (Posthumous). He displayed extraordinary gallantry and made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while fighting Maoists. President Kovind presents Shaurya Chakra to Shri Kuldeep Kumar Urawan, Head Constable (GD), 118 CRPF, Gunderbal (J&K) (Posthumous). He made the supreme sacrifice at the altar of duty, in the highest traditions of the force while fighting with terrorists. President Kovind presents Shaurya Chakra to Shri Debasis Sethy, Commando, Odisha Police (Posthumous). He showed raw courage, utmost dedication and commitment to duty and made supreme sacrifice for the nation while fighting with Maoists in Kalahandi, Odisha.

Gallantry awards were given to the personnel of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and Police for displaying conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme devotion to duty.

The President also conferred 13 Param Vishisht Seva Medals and 29 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals for distinguished service of exceptional order.
