The Nation is paying homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his 152nd birth anniversary today.
A series of functions have been organized across the country and by Indian Missions abroad. A Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha was organised at his Samadhi – Raj Ghat in the national capital.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. The Prime Minister visited Rajghat to pay tribute to Bapu this morning.
An inter-faith prayer meeting was held at Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi this evening on the occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Vice President M Vekaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes at the memorial in Gandhi Smriti.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that by imbibing Bapu’s ideas and values, people can make the India of his dreams.Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary is also observed as the International Day of non-violence.
The nation is also remembering former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary today. Prime Minister Modi also visited Vijay Ghat, the memorial of Lal Bahadur Shastri in the national capit al, to pay him floral tributes.
